Since 1973, the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet has enhanced the cultural life of the Shreveport/Bossier City community. Under the guidance of Artistic Drector Marion Mills, the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet has provided dance opportunities and training for local dancers. The semi-professional dance company brings a full season of performances each year to the region. Past performances include Cinderella, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, and Giselle, as well as original works choreographed by regional artist. Also performing at the Red River Revel and the Louisiana State Fair.

Each year, the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet provides dance demonstrations and performances in Caddo and Bossier schools to many children who may not have the opportunity to experience a live ballet performances. Third grade students in the Caddo and Bossier school systems are invited each year to a free performance of The Nutcracker. Other community outreach performances include lecture demonstrations and performances in schools, and other public performances at local events.

As the only semi-professional dance company in Northwest Louisiana, the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet has educated and entertained the community in the art of ballet in a variety of venues. The mission of this organization is to enhance the cultural life of the community while providing the opportunity for dancers of all ages to perform in high quality productions.
